Your routine means sweet f*ck all

I know entrepreneurs who get up two hours early every day to get shit done before the world interferes.

I know entrepreneurs who shut off their phones and Facebook for their scheduled midday “content writing time.”

I know entrepreneurs who have daily schedules, minutely defining when and how long they work on a new group course, polish social media posts, eat, and go for a walk.

You ask me all the time what a “real” entrepreneur’s day looks like. I always answer the same way:

Who is this “real” entrepreneur you speak of? And why do you give a shit how she spends her time?

YOU don’t need to follow someone else’s routine or rules.

YOU don’t need to arrange your desk the way Oprah does in order to make bank.

YOU don’t need to use trendy calendar software, have the perfect website or spend a fortune on glam photos.

YOU only need to DO WHAT YOU DO BEST – in the way only YOU can.

Understandably, some people need structure or discipline.

What we don’t need is someone else’s structure. How Tina Fey parts her curtains in the morning is irrelevant. That’s another stall tactic. Another way to say, ‘Oh, my desk, office, [insert bullshit excuse] isn’t ready yet. I can’t work today.’

Enough screwing around.

But don’t take my word for it. Below are thoughts from three wildly famous entrepreneurs on what got them there:

“I never dreamed about success. I worked for it.” — Estée Lauder

“My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” — Oprah Winfrey

“My best successes came on the heels of failures.” — Barbara Corcoran

When someone asks about my daily routine, I quote Ferris Bueller. “You realize if we played by the rules, right now we’d be in gym?”

Fuck the rules.

The CCC Masterclasses

A week-long virtual masterclass experience on how to leverage your online business, so you can survive (and thrive) in our current crazy times

*

We’re in unprecedented times. The world looks completely different from just a few weeks ago.

We ALL need to do things differently, because we’re living in a brand new world.

And that includes me and my team. This is what I mean…

Each December, we offer a free CCC Masterclass series that helps women leverage and grow their online businesses. We’ve had thousands of women join from more than 50 countries.

So that NORMALLY happens once a year in December. But in these times, we can’t wait around until then. The world is moving too fast right now.

In addition, how you show up and what you say needs to be adjusted according to world circumstances.

This is not the time to shout “Buy my shit!” all over the internet. Selling is an art and now, more than ever, you need to know how to do it right.

Go here to signup for the classes. We start May 1.
