Everything old is new again

That quote has been attributed to Jonathan Swift, Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, and a character in a Stephen King novel.

It doesn’t matter who the author was. The point is salient.

The idea, of course, is that everything has already been created. Every story has been told. Every idea has been put out there. All we can do now is add our unique take on whatever we come up with.

We live in a time where, thank the gods, it’s not only possible to spread your take globally, but you can do it in seconds.

Nowhere is this more true than with coaching.

Observe…

Once upon a time, in the vast landscape of the internet, a humble corner existed where individuals poured out their thoughts, ideas and stories. This space, known as the blogosphere, experienced its golden age in the early 2000s. However, as social media platforms took the spotlight, the art of blogging seemed to fade into the background.

Fast forward to the present, and the winds of change are blowing once again.

The resurgence of blogging is not just a nostalgic echo, but a vibrant reality reshaping the digital landscape. Coaches, mentors, healers and others in the service industry rely on social media to get the word out. As more and more people join the industry, some believe it’s harder and harder to get the attention of prospects.

Hence, blogging.

In the realm of digital marketing, blogs have emerged as a dynamic asset for coaches seeking to amplify their online presence. According to a study conducted by HubSpot, businesses that prioritize blogging are 13 times more likely to experience a positive return on investment (ROI).

This statistic alone underscores the significance of weaving a compelling narrative through the written word.

For coaches in a competitive online space, a well-crafted blog becomes a beacon, attracting potential clients and establishing credibility. Content Marketing Institute reports that content creation, including blogging, costs 62% less than traditional marketing strategies while generating approximately three times as many leads. (Read that again.)

As a mindset and success coach, my unique expertise finds an ideal platform in blogging. A study by Demand Metric reveals that 82% of consumers feel more positive about a brand after reading customized content. This presents a golden opportunity for coaches to connect authentically with their audience through insightful blog posts.

Moreover, the impact on search engine visibility cannot be overlooked.

Data from Search Engine Journal indicates that websites with blogs have 434% more indexed pages, increasing the likelihood of ranking higher in search results. This organic visibility is a potent tool for coaches looking to be discovered by individuals actively seeking their services.

As we traverse the digital marketing landscape, it’s evident that blogging is not just a creative outlet but a strategic move for coaches to elevate their brand. The synergy between insightful content and increased visibility creates a pathway for coaches to not only share their wisdom but to thrive in the competitive world of online entrepreneurship.

Let’s look at a couple of fictitious coaching companies and how they could use blogging to leverage the hell out of impact and increase income…

Background: Mindful Mastery Coaching (I made up this name), a company specializing in mindfulness and personal development coaching, decided to revamp its online presence through strategic blogging.

Results: Over a six-month period, MMC saw a significant uptick in website traffic. The blog became a go-to resource for those seeking guidance on mindfulness. This surge in visibility translated into a 30% increase in client inquiries, showcasing how blogging established them as thought leaders in their niche.

Case Study: EmpowerHER Business Coaching

Background: EmpowerHER Business Coaching (I also made up this name), a company dedicated to empowering women entrepreneurs, recognized the potential of blogging to connect with their target demographic.

Strategy: The coaches started a blog addressing challenges faced by women in business, sharing success stories and providing actionable tips for female entrepreneurs. They leveraged social media to promote their blog posts and encourage engagement.

This, coupled with the blog’s SEO benefits, contributed to a 25% growth in new client sign-ups, showcasing how strategic blogging can be a catalyst for business expansion.

Bottomline:

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.

You don’t need to do things the way others do. (F*ck TikTok. I’m a word nerd.)

I started my business with a blog in 2008. I never imagined I’d be where I am now at the time, but we surpassed 7 figures years ago and there’s no end in site.

Do you blog? Let me know and feel free to drop your link in the comments, too, so I can check it out.

Awakening Your Intuition

Some argue our capacity to hear our own inner voice has decreased with the advent of social media and the internet. We’re drowning in noise and too much information.

Some argue the opposite: that our capacity to hear ourselves has increased because our culture has more awareness now than in previous generations.

Neither is wrong.

It comes down to what you want to believe.

I believe our inner voice – our intuition – is available to us loud and clear in any moment, if we choose to tune in.

Intuition can arrive in silence or noise, from external stimulation or even prayer and meditation. The point is it can come whenever you want. You’ll recognize it because it often makes no sense, OR it makes sense of the nonsensical.

You’ll suddenly understand something you’ve been struggling with for a while, or you may get an idea for something you’ve never thought of before.

All you have to do is trust yourself.

Meaning, your mind has to be on board. You have to believe it’s possible, probably even, that you have access to all the knowledge you need, whenever you need it.

Intuition does not need to be taught. It needs to be allowed

It’s always been within you, dormant, waiting for you to turn toward it.

You can start with a small willingness to know more truth, light and wisdom as it applies to your own life. You can begin to pray to have obstacles removed or to diminish or change your perception of a struggle.

A desire to connect to yourself starts to open the doors to inner knowing, especially when that desire is accompanied by a willingness to receive and pay attention to what has been heard or sensed.

Some people just know things, and they don’t necessarily believe what their inner voice tells them. They invalidate and reject what they feel or believe.

That closes the door to higher perception and your inner knowing. It literally shuts down intuition.

Instead, in those moments, you’re giving more power to fear – of being wrong, different, of needing to change your life based on what you heard.

In order to open the doors to intuition, and to keep them open, you need to be willing to hear and know, and you need to be willing to trust.

And, damn, trust is not a simple thing.

Some people have lived practical lives, dictated by circumstance. They’ve developed a finely-tuned and often controlled or controlling method of existence. Then they live within those lines. Others may have tried to trust their intuition before and felt they made mistakes.

Trust involves not just a willingness to receive information from another level, but also a willingness to believe in our own capacity to flow with life – and to change what needs to be changed in order to do so.

Many people know a great deal but are afraid to let themselves recognize the information they receive because of where it might take them. If you want to open the doors more for your intuition, you have to let go of the fear in order to let in light and truth.

Now, more than ever, it’s especially important to reclaim our ability to know and trust ourselves, and let that state give rise to intuition. Otherwise, we are left not knowing what or who to believe, not knowing which direction to choose. Without access to the deeper intuitive sense that is part of us, we live at the mercy of public opinion rather than in the presence of our own truth.

It’s long past time to allow your inner senses to awaken and to become aware of exactly how powerful you are.

You can start with meditation, prayer, journaling, dancing, silence, anything that frees your mind and opens it to receive what wants to come through.

You may not recognize the voice of your intuition immediately, but it’s always there, waiting to be heard.

9 Ways We Sabotage Our Intuition And How To Stop

American Philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “primary wisdom is intuition.” Meaning, it’s not just theory. It’s part of who we are.

Without training, we can happen upon it occasionally. When we follow our intuition, we usually like the results.

What would happen if we learned to tap into our own innate intuition on a daily basis?

As Carl Jung said, “intuition does not denote something contrary to reason, but something outside of the province of reason.” It is real and it is not just in our heads. What’s more, our head can’t control it.

We sabotage our intuition all the time. Here are nine examples of how, and what we can choose to do instead:

1. We hurry so much that we don’t take time to listen to our intuition

Slow down or just be still. Make space to listen.

2. We don’t look for the symbolism in things or events, nor do we develop our symbolic ability.

– Open to possibilities. Signs and symbols are everywhere.

3. We let our ego control us, and insist on being in charge of everything.

– The ego is threatened by the presence of your intuition. The truth is no one has control of anything. Let go and watch what arrives.

4. We confuse intuition with fear and wishful thinking.

– When we stay in our heads and let our emotions take over, we lose the gifts our intuition can offer. It IS real and it CAN and DOES help all the time.

5. We continue to hold close the opinions of those who don’t believe in intuition or want to use it.

– Intuition is contagious. But so is the lack of intuition. Mind your environment.

6. We think we can force intuition, like pedaling a bike or pumping weights.

– Intuition comes where and when invited, but not on demand. The more you force, the less able you are to receive. Pushing, by definition, means being closed off.

7. We insist on staying in our logical, rational thinking to find solutions or make decisions.

– When we are centered, using emotional intelligence tools and habits, intuition can flood us with endless creative alternatives that the intellect would never conceive.

8. We listen to our ego when it tells us it can handle the problem itself.

– Remind the ego that it is safe to trust yourself and make space to listen.

9. We believe we don’t need to learn tools, skills or habits to master tapping into intuition.

– By getting trapped in the endless loop of our heads – overthinking the process of intuitively feeling – we never get a chance to develop our intuition at all.

One of the most brilliant and analytical minds of the twentieth century was Albert Einstein. Here’s what he had to say: “The real valuable thing is intuition.”

At the end of the day, you get to decide what you believe is possible, not just for the world, but also for yourself.

Do you believe intuition is real and readily available to support you?
