Confessions of a Dirty Blonde :: A call to action just before NaNoWriMo.

Writers in every genre have the same problems. I know you think yours is unique. It isn’t.

Working as a ghostwriter, editor and coach, I tell you this – no matter how much you don’t want to believe it. Storyline and structure are things that don’t go away.

The other thing all writers have in common is fear. If you’ve spent more than five minutes on this site, you already know that.

Generally, we fear different things. The book won’t sell. Your writing sucks. You just can’t figure out which story to start with. These problems all stem from being scared, and they equalize the playing field.

People who have already published feel them with as much ferocity as those who are writing their first book. Believe it. They may not admit they have fears, or maybe their fears have changed, but the fear is still very alive and very real.

My role here is shifting a bit. I started ghostwriting and editing mostly, but now the Beckster has put me on calls with writers who are trying to laser-focus their stories and get shit done. Want to know what else would help with that? Especially for those of you who aren’t ready to commit to my kind of torture?

We’re weeks away from the start. If you’ve had your thumb up your butt, this is the time to use NaNoWriMo as motivation. Let’s get your shit together (and off your fingers).

It’s a month of no-nonsense, committed time to start and finish the first draft of your next work. Writers across the globe participate and there are even free websites to track your progress, a digital accountability partner.

No excuses allowed here, friends. It’s just time to suck it up and go big.

In conjunction with NaNoWriMo, the Write Now Sessions will serve as the ass-kicking you need. And you can dish it out to yourself whenever you want. But the best part is the entire package takes six weeks to complete, so if you start it two weeks before NanoWriMo, you’re going to have one hell of a story at the end.

And it’s cheaper than hiring us. Honestly, Becky’s packing in enough work that I’m swamped (but still swimming), so getting on with a coach right now, well, it probably isn’t going to happen for a bit.
